St. Helen's Farm Goats' Milk Review

St. Helen's Farm Goats' Milk Product Review
As those who follow me will know - I LOVE this product and often have a bowl of it warmed up so I'm completely honoured to be sampling some of their award winning Best of British Goats' milk! Don't forget every blog of mine isn't complete without a chance for one of my pawpals to sample and review a product on my blog at a later date... which is why we have vouchers to give away to TWO lucky pooches!

*WARNING : DERBY AND TOOTSIE SWEET TALKED MUM INTO SHARING MY GOATS MILK. DON'T WORRY PALS I NOT BE TALKING TO THEM ATM!*

About St. Helen's Farm
St Helen's Farm was founded in 1986 on a smallholding near Barmby on the Marsh in East Yorkshire. It was located next to a church called St Helen's, from which the name of the farm was chosen.
The business began when it was discovered that goats' milk was of great appeal to people who could not tolerate cows' milk. In those days, goats' milk could only be bought from individual farms and supermarkets concentrated on cows' milk products.
A modern dairy was also built, which enabled St Helen's Farm to pack fresh goats' milk into cartons and make other products such as butter, cream and yogurts.

history-1.jpg
The farm began by milking 500 goats and soon started supplying customers such as Waitrose and Hillards with, initially, a blend of sheep and goats' milk yogurts.
The business then moved to a new site at Seaton Ross in the Vale of York in the early 1990's. The extra land was needed to grow crops to feed the goats and to expand the herd.

Today, the dairy supplies fresh goats milk products to supermarkets across the country on a daily basis. The consumer liking for goats' milk products has increased demand for milk and a number of other family goat farms in the Midlands and Yorkshire now also supply us with fresh British goats' milk to meet rising demand..
There have been many changes over the years but a consistent focus on good animal welfare and attention to quality at all stages of the process has remained a constant philosophy. This has enabled the farm and dairy to produce a top quality goats' milk that continues to be enjoyed by increasing numbers of customers each year.

My Review (The ImPawtant One!)
I loves my Goats Milk, Oh Yes I do, So Lets Share A Bowl, Just Me and You!
Hello again my pals, sorry about the delay with this upload - Me and the pet human haven't been too well. We are on the mend now and I'm over the moon to be reviewing this marvelous goats milk. I wuff it, especially a drop warmed up in my bowl before bed! It has it's health benefits my mum says.. therefore it's the tastiest medicine ever! The only problem is, I can't open it with my paws so human assistance is required, so I had to be super nice to the human. *Practises puppy-eyes*

I sent granny to the shops to collect it freshly - apparently it is on the top shelf at the local super-market, so if there are any tall dogs that wish to help me form a pyramid so I can reach without human assistance please contact me!

I know you're all having flash backs to your puppy days thinking OMD! I love that stuff.. but never get it now. Well now is your chance to grab this opportunity with your paws and show your pet humans how good it is, not just for puppy growth.

Mum often pours me a drop to keep me healthy, especially if I'm poorly. I haven't been too good this week with having a few sickness issues and a delicate tummy. Mum poured me some goats milk in my bowl and warmed it up in the microwave so it was just nice and warm for me. I can safely say it is sooooo yummy in my little tummy that I drank the bowl clean and even begged for more. (However, humum said I wasn't allowed to be greedy!)

Greedy Derby & Tootise Sharing a bowl!
She even poured Derby, my 15 year old Yorkshire Terrier Adoptive Dad, a bowl. He has a terrible digestion problem stemming back from his puppy years. When mum and gwandad rescued him he had been badly abused in the past. He was starved to the extent he had swallowed a babys dummy out of desperation for food - which bless him, did him no favours in the long term! He does gobble his food but has a sensitive digestion so has to have natural treats.  Derby didn't let the team down, he drank ALL of his bowl! (I was quite annoyed, I thought he may have left me a drop after I promised him a mention in my blog!)  Him and Tootsie shared a bowl... because sharing is caring *Ahem Ahem*!!

Mum says that it is very good for my coat, and skin, which I agree with too. The taste is delicious so it's not hard to figure out why this goats' milk is award winning.

The Human Review *Yawns*  ( She let Derby and Tootise try MY goats' milk :( )
I was brought up with my dad and Grandad rearing goats, and my earliest memories consist of me drinking fresh goats milk.
I know it's a great product for humans and great for growing too, but I love how I can rely on Nellie to drink it and keep her hydrated if she is ill and refusing her water and food.
I know Nellie likes her Goat's milk for herself...and point blank won't share! (She has her own carton with her name on, and will possibly be getting a mug of her own off Santa Paws if she behaves!) Anyhow, this product is great for both pets and humans and I want to outline how great it can be for humans over cows' milk too. As we know, cows milk isn't recommended for dogs or puppies as it effects their digestion - which is why Goats' milk it a much more preferred, and tastier option!
So why choose St. Helen's Farm Goats' milk over cows milk?...

Plenty of calcium

3 servings of goats’ milk products provide more than 100% of an adult's recommended daily amount of calcium16. Calcium is essential for the development and maintenance of bones and teeth, to help against the onset of osteoporosis and may also aid weight control by helping breakdown body fat as part of a calorie controlled diet.

Blood pressure friendly

Dairy products like goats' milk and yogurt are rich in calcium, a mineral indicated as important in lowering our blood pressure. Choose the low fat options if you’re concerned about blood pressure.

A good source of key vitamins

One (250ml) serving of goats' milk provides 17% of the RDA for vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), which is needed for the release of energy from food, and 15% of the recommended daily amount of biotin (a B-vitamin which is important for a healthy nervous system). Goats' milk is richer than cows' milk in the fat soluble vitamin D, which is needed to help calcium absorption and for healthy bones and teeth.

Naturally lower in cholesterol

Goats' milk is naturally slightly lower in cholesterol than cows' milk and the skimmed and semi-skimmed options make it a good alternative for people who are watching their cholesterol or saturated fat intake.

 Other Essential Minerals

One (250ml) serving of goats' milk delivers over one third of your recommended daily amount of phosphorus(which helps build strong bones and teeth and to release energy from food), and more than meets your daily iodine needs (which helps keep our thyroid and metabolic rate healthy) and provides 425mg of potassium (involved in maintaining a healthy blood pressure by helping to blunt the effects of sodium)

Prebiotic

Goats' milk has more oligosaccharides than cows' milk, with an amount similar to human milk. These act as prebiotics in the gut and may help to maintain the healt.h of the digestive tract by encouraging the growth of beneficial gut bacteria and preventing the growth of harmful bacteria

WHERE TO BUY?

Whole Goats' Milk 1l, Semi-Skimmed Goats' Milk and Skimmed Goats' Milk are available to purchase at Sainbury's and Tesco's

BUT I was informed it was for my neck measurements... not my famous little tumtum. Neck I hear you all say? Yep - I was so lucky to be offered to model some fabulous tailor made jewelry by Ruby's Regalia. *Dog Pouts* Mum was smiling too - I had a hunch she would try and copy me! The Dog Blog - My Review (The ImPawtant One!)
I love the Postman, we're on first name terms now. We have come to a mutual understanding - I won't rip any mail up as long as I get MY mail before the humans.( For some reason Gwandad installed a mail catcher for his letters as I kept inspecting them and shredding them for confidentiality reasons before he read them BOL). He brought me a lovely little parcel today - and you guessed it... I did my trademark little excited wee on the floor!
This pawjus white box with an elegant red ribbon around it was inside. Mum says it looked to good to open... I told her to 'DOG UP' and let me rip it open. She was having none of it (spoilsport) and took the ribbon off and opened the box for me to inspect. Inside were two pawjus little red bags ( my favourite colour as you know!) each with a little neatly wrapped parcel in with the company sticker on. It was clear alot of pride, time and effort had gone into making this parcel super special - and it was evident that something pawfect was inside!
Ruby's Regalia had also included a little company card, which I will be storing away for future use. I think I may need a custom built jewelry stand made at this rate - please have a look at their items at http://rubysregalia.blogspot.co.uk/p/pet-bow-ties.html there's something for all dogs with different tastes - and it is all made to measure.
Me Opening my beautiful Bow Tie.
I was not dissapointed at all Pals! Have you seen how beautiful this is?!?!?! It's absolutely pawfect, a pawfect fit, pawfect design and pawfect treat for every dog who needs a bit of glam in their life! The tartan bow is in a satin finish and not only feels, but looks great! (Only the best for this pooch!) The variety of beads are on a extra strong stretch nylon, which is great for safety reasons and comfort (You know me... I like my comfort!)  The colour scheme is complementary of the bow and will have all your doggy pals jealous! If you wish to dress your pet human up in the same attire Ruby's Regalia also do a range of human bow-ties and jewelry too - whether it be earrings or a bracelet. (See Humans review to look at her matching bracelets pals). I have a hunch that this bow-tie and me may soon become inseperable, it actually is more comfortable than my collar!
I feel greaaaat in it! Derby had to do a double-take when he saw me, I think I may be on my way to being made a Dame now I have the correct attire! ( I hope this means I get more treats!)

These would be perfect for me to wear to a posh occasion, such as a dog pals wedding :D
Prices start from £12 for the bow-ties and are worth every single penny. Get saving ya pawket money pals!

The Human Review *Yawns*
I cannot explain how gorgeous these products are and how much time, care and effort goes into every aspect of their creations. From the initial moment of seeing the glossy white box with red ribbon - I knew it was housing something special. I have read online that celeb's shop on this site - and believe me it sure is celebrity standards all the way throughout - at a not-so-celeb price! Once Nellie allowed me to remove the ribbon after going crazy to try and open it herself - I found two red bags each filled with a hand wrapped parcel in the most delicate of wrapping papers - sealed shut with a company sticker. Nothing is too much for this company!
These special touches show how much attention and care are put into every single aspect of the product and customer packaging. The red bag is perfect for storage and would make a great gift.

Inside one package was Nellie's beautiful pet bow-tie which I have had to battle with to get it off her all day!  She is so comfortable in it, which is quite surprising considering she usually detests having her collar on, this only goes to show how comfortable the stretchy nylon is on the dog.

Inside the other was a a fabulous bracelet set which matched the beading and detail of Nellie's collar so we could look equally as glam together ( I haven't quite worked out how to compete with her Puppy Dog eyes however!) I have uploaded the pictures of the bracelets and Bow-tie as a large photo in order to show you how great the products are.

The beading varied from a shiny pearl appearance, to a translucent appearing bead to the most gorgeous silver sparkly bead. The designers clearly know what works - and I think this is a must for any dog-lover who wants to show off how glam them are their pet are.
Matching earrings are available too online, as well as a wider range of necklaces

K9 Kitchen's Catered NomNoms

Pals, I have the honour of reviewing some homemade dog friendly biscuits made by the fabuwuff K9 Kitchen. All of their products are tested by their two resident taster dogs. Wish I had a job like that *daydreams*
Prize available to one lucky reader who comments the correct answer*

My Review (Da impawtant one!)
*Drools*

Where do I begin!?
This lovely box arrived, but Mum says the dog on the sticker is too thin to be me *sighs*!
It was from @K9_Kitchen

I found it smelt fabuwuff and attempted to rip it open, but the pet human was having none of it and made me sit and wait whilst she undid the ribbon. (This isn't edible, mum told my Dog Dad off for trying to steal it!)

Inside was three packets all sealed and smelled yummy full to the brim with my lovely noms! The smells were so mouth-watering as they were freshly made to the order. (I'm not going to lie... I even did a little excited wee!)

I'll let mum discuss all of the human stuff with you, but now for the important stuff... How did they taste?!
  Gingerbread Men (Man's Best Friend)
Uh Oh... Floury Nose!
These were the cutest little treats I have ever seen, they were perfect for throwing in the air... but I have to say I did feel a little guilty biting their cute little heads off (... but it tasted too good to stop!). The ginger ones were delicious, I was only allowed one a day as a treat before bed. It was the first time I had tasted dog-friendly ginger and it was D-E-licious *licks nose* As you can see... I has a little bit on me nosey!

Mum was surprised I took it as I can be a little funny with new flavours.  It was soooo good, but the only downside was mum made me share with me Dog Dad, Derby!

These are the perfect size for a treat, one was sufficient for me but I would recommend two for a larger or greedy gobbles dog!
Cheese Bites (Cheesy Chomps)
Can you believe it. Cheese. REAL CHEESE. The kind I take pleasure from stealing out of the fridge when the dozy human leaves it open!! Dese has to be ma favourite out of the box, I has a hunch a lot of dogs will have these as their favourites too! Mum says I have to compare them to cheese scones.. But don't worry I didn't share them with her.
These treats made me so good it was unreal, I even did all of my tricks including the annoying spinny one I don't like to do! This tells you how delicious they are.
They are shaped like cats I think, so apparently I like cats... In fact I LOVE them!.
The cheese is not powdered and this shines through a delicious mixture of real cheeses. When I bit through you could see the grated cheese spread kindly throughout, leaving a bite full of cheesy pawfection.
Honey and Banana Bites ( Lurch Loves)
I'm not going to lie.. I was a little unsure about these at first (I think it is perhaps to do with being a beekeeping dog and me and mum being funny with honey!) She gave me it.. I sat and pawed it out of her hand and by the time she turned the kettle on.. it had vanished down to my tummy! I did love this but not as much as my Cheesy treats... I went crazy for them. It was lovely and organic and great with a warm cup of goats milk. Mum says this will be great to eat when I'm poorly with a bad tum tum and perfect for the cold nights.
Not only are the ingredients healthy and full of potassium they were nommy!

Humum's Words *Yawns*
I can safely say I wouldn't hesitate in feeding Nellie these treats in the future and most definitely will be placing orders for Nellie and pals for gifts. Not only was the presentation of the box immaculate, inside the packets were individually labelled with ingredients and securely sealed. The packages were colourfully coded for those with visual problems and I cannot express the quality of the biscuits inside each pack.
I kid you not when I say they smelt great enough for human consumption... it is a good thing Nellie is quick else we may have fought over the Cheesy bites!
The box had the instant 'wow' factor with the glossed cardboard and individual seal.. not to mention the luxury ribbon seal! (Perfect for Valentines,Birthdays & Dog Weddings) It not only looked professional and engaging but looked like alot of time and effort had gone into the preparation.

All Ingredients are 100% natural human graded ingredients and I cannot express enough how much I love this idea.

Each packet is personalised with contents and ingredients, which I cannot express enough are all 100% human graded! There's no artificial colourings or any 'nasties' in any of these treats, so they are great as you know exactly what your best friend is being fed.

The company has been a pleasure to deal with, and offer a personal touch with their baking which cannot be faulted.

PLEASE*** - Check out the below price lists and contact details for this wonderful company. I often find the less known and personal companies to be the most caring and thoughtful.

When placing any future orders through my recommendation please mention @NellieJRT  OR my blog sent you!
*Gift Boxes* - The lovely box I recieved can be yours (Including three bags of biscuits AND a toy for only £10!) +pp

Welcome To The DogBlog.

*places glasses on and stretches paws*

Hello My Pals!
I've been part of the supportive dog community for a while, and possibly have established myself as a little bit of a tinker. Any humans who know me may regard me as a little over-excitable, a tad cheeky and a typical JRT. But hey, that's coming from them weird two legged pets who use knives and forks!

My twoofing pals, the guys I have the most in-depth conversations of life with , have the same logic as me! I love discussing the best tree to wee against, the best food to steal from the fridge (BTW, it is a raddish for all of you smaller breeds of dogs.. it makes a great TASTY football!... Goaaaaal!) and also which toys and noms are the most delicious.

For those unfamiliar with me, the name is Nellie. I was born on Halloween 2011, which makes me a Jack Russell Terror. Bol. My pals say I'm a funny little pup with a big heart and I should take up stand-up comedy, which is utterly ridiculous and every dog with a wagging tail knows I much prefer to plonk my bottom down and sit and beg for a treat.

I have acquired the nickname "Smelly Nellie With The Big Fat Belly" for my adoration of food, which although I don't find fitting doesn't bother me in the slightest. After all the human which gave me it, doesn't admire the luxuries I do - so it's safe to say we have settled to agree on our difference of opinions. For example, scents. Now it is no secret, us white dogs do not stay white for long... simply because of Fox Plops or Rabbit Plops.  Don't get me wrong I love it, although the human doesn't.. but what would she know, after all she sprays scented flower fragrances around! Eurgh, we all know flowers are for digging up!

But, I am pleased to say I think I'm training the human well. We had a breakthrough. The other night...I saw her sitting with a mudpack on her face. It's a start! Anyhows, the point of this is to show the clash of opinions between us both. As you all probably know, I'm a little dog with big opinions so the reason of this Blog account is to relay my opinions to you on many dog products. ( Forgive me too... The human felt left out so wants to add her own part on to any reviews too to help your pet humans in their potential future purchases).

Thanks for reading pals,
I'll dog blog soon! Any products you wish for me to review, or any companies who wish to get in contact please do not hesitate.

The aim of this blog is for me to do reviews for you all, and perhaps the opportunity for lucky readers to win a product too to review.

Keep Wagging.

Nellie
