My Review ( Da Impawtant One!)

OMD! Wet food paw us all - not just Derby! My tail was wagging at 250 wags per min - I think I may enter the paw-olympics with record speeds like this. Humum is a fussy lady and always grumbles on about how the majority of wet foods aren't nutritious  (Yup - check me out the pup swallowed the dictionary! Not really, I just chewed the cover BOL) and how they are full of 'fillers' which do us pooches no favours. I normally get fed my dry biscuits and then some meat - and Derby gets the posh cooked meats and veggies off mum as he is getting on and biscuits can hurt his little teeth. I have told mum to get him some doggy dentures like de advert however, but my human has selective hearing I think.

So imagine my amazement when the human plods in the kitchen, and shouts of us all in. I panicked. "Nellie Ellen". Uh oh, my full Sunday name?! What have I done this time - has she figured the just planted flowers and now re-arranged (I am multi-talented y'know - perhaps a gardening blog may be in order!), has she realised my Giggle Ball has smashed the beak off the puffin ornaments she collects - or is it worse.... surely not bath time!? I looked at Tootsie, she at me.. and we gently shoved Derby in first - after all he is the oldest - although not very macho I must admit.

There we stood in amazement, astonished by what we saw. Humum was standing their with two tins! I've never had anything out of a tin before (except that one time I helped myself to baked beans on granddads plate but we won't go into that!) - although have watched numerous adverts. I scratched my noggin' with my paw in confusion - what's in the tin? Surely it's got to be mushy for Derby?! Oh how wrong I was! I WAS ALLOWED WET DOG FOOD!

I must express the term 'dog food' doesn't really cover this - it was more a culinary masterpiece that Billy + Margot had created. No brown thick imitation gravy to cover it up - but visible chunks of  REAL meat, fruit and veggies. I was slightly surprised when human dished it out into our dishes - this was surely a crime?! No fancy plates to reflect the masterpiece that was dished up. Hey ho - don't worry pals. This food is divine. As you know - I have high standards as does humum. She says that we should only be fed ingredients which are good enough for human consumption. This most definitely is. It's unlike any wet food we az saw bepaw. As you all know I'm not an expert on wet food - so here's a few words from Derby. (His Sunday name is Derbald BOL! Don't tell him I told you all!)

What do you mean I have to share?
" I'm no spring chicken *Drools* mmm Chicken. So over the years as you can imagine I have sampled many foods. For the past few years Humum has tried me on many wet foods - yet none have been suitable. I suffer from digestion issues as have a sensitive stomach due to swallowing objects I shouldn't have out of desperation, when I was starved as a pup, before I found my fur-ever home. Humum always worries about what I eat, and with joint issues too I can't exercise as much as I used to. Lots of the wet food I've tried in the past is simply 'mush without a purpose'.. full of ingredients which don't benefit me in anyway shape or form. Now I can safely say - this needs to be making a regular appearance in my food bowl! I actually ate blueberries... and green beans...and carrots....and apples in this delightful meal! Mum says you have to eat your veggies and fruit to grow up big and strong - Nellie may need a lot of this then as she is only a mini Jack Russell Bol! "

I think humum needs stronger glasses as she referred to us all as the three little pigs 'cos we all had clean bowls! (Maybe that's why we didn't get posh plates - Derby probably would of licked the pattern off!). One, we are dogs and two, well Derby isn't exactly 'little' *sniggers behind paw*.

I can't thank Billy + Margot enough for sending this out - it's changed humum's mind completely about wet food - and I think this means I get to keep nomming on it as part of a varied diet!  Mum made granddad giggle - it is recommended that you use a tin within 48 hours of opening - this won't last ten minutes with contents as good at this! Normally Derby turns his nose up at wet food as he finds it bland and we don't blame him - so end up throwing endless tins away. Not this time.

I have included the information of the product we have sampled below

 Humum Review
A package arrived in a secure brown box, clearly labelled with the sender and recipients name and address. This was all typed giving a professional look, which met my high expectations upon opening. Inside was a sea of black crate paper wrapping the individual tins which I felt was a great touch, and a change from bubble wrap! All packaging could be recycled which is an added bonus - not only do they care about our pooches, but they do care about our planet, a lesson I wish many companies to follow suit!
Upon opening I found a 395g tin of pure professionalism; a clearly labelled tin containing everything you need to know. The label consists of the company logo in silver on a black background accompanied by a union jack to the left hand side - representing the product has been made in Britain.
Usually when a product is labelled to be made in Britain I generally role my eyes in a pessimistic manor as have often found although the manufacturing of the product to be in the UK the ingredients or materials are sourced elsewhere. This product is genuinely made in Britain and uses British meat! I find this a weight off my mind that I know I am supporting British farmers but most importantly I find it comforting to know where the food my little best friends is sourced from. The company is completely honest about where there meat is sourced from, and informed me that the meat in their Venison wet dog food is sourced from outside of the UK, as the manufacturer can't get enough within our shores. However, this has no impact on the quality of meat - nor the taste! The Venison for Billy+Margot's Venison treats is sourced within the UK.

All other meats and fish in the tins (Beef, chicken, fish) are indeed all sourced in Britain.
The tin also states the name of the food in white which in this incidence is Chicken with Vegetable, Fruit and Herbs against a red background. This coloured box is a great tool as it enables you to select this product from their range without rummaging through a shelf in an attempt to find a specific flavour among identical tins. It is also a great way to recognise the flavour if you have several dogs at home whom each prefer a different flavour.
Inside the red box is concise information which I deem vital to any dog owner - British Meat, Pure Fruit and Vegetable, Gluten & Grain Free and No Fillers.
Many complete wet foods aren't complete in my eyes as they don't offer our dogs the nutrition in which they need in their diet. Many offer a low meat content and artificial additives which are simply not something I would wish to feed my pets. This however ticks all of the boxes - all ingredients are what I would eat - and therefore are good enough for my pets.

Ingredients and Composition:
Chicken (60%), Carrots (4%), Apple (1%), Herbs (Rosemary, Parsley, Mint, Marjoram and Oregano) Flaxseed, Green Beans, Seaweed, Blueberries, Salmon Oil, Mannan Oligosaccharides and Minerals.

It also gives me great comfort knowing Billy + Margot use suppliers who hold the same core values as themselves - allowing for great ingredients to be used throughout their products. Billy + Margot are proud of their relationships with renowned companies such as SeaHorse Atlantic, which is used in their popcorn, that they offer information about  their suppliers on their website. Kelp Care™ Clinical Veterinary Trial Executive Summary
Kelp Care™ feline and canine, formulated to the nutrient requirements of cats and dogs has just undergone a 60 day subjective clinical veterinary trial with a large veterinary hospital in Cork using 44 clinical dog cases under leading canine vets. The trial focused on key areas of increasing canine diseases:
 Palatability
 Osteoarthritis
 Chronic skin conditions
 Dental health
 Haematology and urinalysis were included in selected cases
Results supported the high palatability of the product (90.5%). There was significant clinical improvement in chronic skin conditions (91%). Clinical response was also noted in osteoarthritis and dental cases.
In selected cases, haematology presented a decrease in white cell count (65% of dogs) and urinalysis showed a decrease of pH in cases suggesting Kelp Care™ can aid in neutralising an acidic pH and promote better health.
Kelp Care™ unique recipe is veterinary recommended as an adjunctive therapy in chronic skin cases and as part of a multimodal management of chronic osteoarthritis in dogs.

When opening the tin it becomes apparent this is no ordinary dog food - this is
a meal, and ingredients are visible! Billy + Margot are proud of their human grade ingredients and don't need to smother it all in a gravy substance to try and hide anything at all. Immediately upon opening, three very intrigued little furry faces appeared in the Kitchen area, all looking intrigued at the tin and then panning across to my face to see who this delectable meal was for. I have never seen three dogs all in unison be so fixated upon a wet food like this. With regular wet foods these three little pooches usually plod off and take no interest - with the exception of Derby who occasionally plods back for a nibble due to his old age and somewhat lack of teeth! But as explained this is no ordinary standard wet dog food -  this is absolutely packed with goodness - including Vitamin A. This vitamin is highly important to ensure our best pals have strong muscles, a great healthy coat, to combat dry skin and to also help with growth. This vitamin is also a great antioxidant which can help protect dogs against certain types of cancer.

I have always been taught that the more colours on my plate the better from an early age and as you probably are aware the majority of wet dog food I have seen in a tin is a thick gravy-like liquid disguising some form of unrecognisable meat which is full of preservatives and 'nasties'. I cannot express how different this is - with blueberries, carrots and green beans visible! This meal has a texture somewhat like a pate, easily breakable yet strong enough to hold shape.

About Top Collar

A few words from the cleffurist human.. the one who allows us to have Sunday Roast any day of the week!

Hi, I’m Sophie, the proud owner of Top Collar.

From day one, all our ranges began natural, with your pets in mind, and will stay that way. We focus on smaller, home-made production, which means your pet gets fresh, locally sourced dishes, as opposed to processed pet food which can be sat around for literally years.

Keeping it fun, whilst considering your pets health and delicious flavours, makes their Top Collar dining experience one to look forward to. I hope you enjoy our diverse menu, and see the happiness it brings the whole family..

My Review ( Da Impawtant One)

Guess what? It’s a Wednesday and I’m having Sunday Roast. I’ve had it every day this week so far! Yup, these terrier-ific treats are great effuryday and mum has told me that there is an option on Top Collars' website to get them delivered every month. So, what are you all waiting for - get them pet humans trained straight to the computer! The best part is the box is the pawfect size to fit through the letter box so we can receive it when the humans are out! The bad part is grandad has installed some weird wirey contraption on the back of the letter box to stop me from helping myself to the post, which is ridicuwuff. Any large dogs to give me a doggyback drop me a message - I'll share the post with you! BOL.
Human handed me a wufferly box decorated with a little Jack Russell sticker on the address label - MINE! Paws off! The corner had a little paw stamped on it with the letter 'O' in the middle of it. I know this is the company logo - but I told Derby it stood for Nellie's Only. *sniggers behind paws* As you know I'm all about the taste so will allow humum the chance to explain about the box and the attention to detail in her section of the blog.

Me and ma Sunday Roast!
Humum had to open the box pals, these thumbs they have come in handy sometimes! There was a cute little company card inside which had a menu on it.. I told the humans to order me one of everything, I'm still waiting!!
They were pawjus! Derby was drooling I woof you not!  Mum snapped one in half to show me what was inside them, and the aroma of Sunday Roast sent me to cloud nine! Dog paradise! I nommed it immediately, and even did a rollyover tickle my belly trick for these noms!

Don't panic pals - this company has our best interests at heart. The humans have no excuse now for letting our treats run low! Keep 'Em Coming enables us to get our noms on a regular basis and they don't have to wait in for them! Humum will explain on her part about the delivery of this box, it means them humans can toddle off to work or if they're like mine, to the shops! They don't have to wait indoors pestering us pooches - the postie can drop them through the letterbox safely and securely. Only £8.95 a month! Click here for details.

Pals, I'm going to show you de delicious menu from this fabuwuff company - and I'm giving ample notice for you to step away from the keyboard incase you drool on it..1...2...3. Okay. Prepare yourself! Click on the name below the picture for a direct link to the product.

Humum Review

With a motto like 'Fun, Fresh and Natural' I was intrigued. As a dedicated pet owner I adore my dogs and unfortunately know too well, that some companies solely focus on profits rather than the wellbeing of our pets, whether this be dogs, chickens or even rabbits. As those who are regular readers of these blogs will know a good diet is vital for an animal’s health and I strongly believe that we shouldn’t feed them anything that we wouldn’t eat ourselves. Well – this company combines a selection of natural ingredients with being a tasty treat for our dogs. Top Collar is simply top notch.

The presentation of the box was a delight to see, a balance between cute and informative without overpowering me with too much unnecessary information. This company has learnt that a quality product speaks for itself, a lesson many could take on board with their design team. The cardboard box was the perfect size to fit through the letter box, making it ideal for those who lead a busy life going to social events or work. You can breathe a huge sigh of relief knowing you don’t have to sit around all day waiting on a parcel, and knowing that the box can safely be recycled after use.

Get me good side?
The box measures approximately 18cm x 18.5cm x 2cm, adorned with a cute paw print stamped on the lower left corner. A personalised address sticker is situated in the centre, alongside an image of a little Jack Russell sitting among Top Collar products. This attention to detail gives the correct impression – that your pet is the priority and attention to detail is most certainly not lacking at all. The back of the box includes a sticker outlining the product, ingredients, storage instructions, weight, analytical constituents and best before date. This information although seems all too easy for some owners to overlook is a stamp of approval in any pet lovers books. This information is a requirement which is often overlooked but yet vital in knowing how this food will have an impact on their pets.

Because of how fresh the treats are and the fact they do not contain any ‘nasties’ such as artificial colouring, additives and preservatives they do not last for months and months. I don’t see this being an issue at all – all three of my dogs loved them!  A date is clearly hand written on the label on the sticker so you know when to use them by. I think this shows just how fresh these are – that every individual order is produced for the dog/s the order is meant for – not batch produced and stored away for goodness knows how long.
Box contents

The box is sealed with a sticker and upon opening has a translucent sheet to keep them fresh, and beneath that was a sheet of blue tissue paper. The inside of the box has a cute little sticker stating what the product is along with illustrations of the ingredients used. This does look very professional and at the bottom ‘Share me...’ I thought this was a great touch to the product – however Nellie may not have!

A glossy card was placed inside the box, with the illustration of a chalk board menu, which is one of the most adorable things I have ever seen. It outlines what products available, under the courses Puppy Perfect, Main Menu and Golden Oldies. I haven’t had the privilege of reviewing any of the other dishes – including Salmon and Scrambled Eggs for the older dogs and Chicken Tagine for the younger dogs out there. The range of products on offer really has made me realise, and hopefully you too, that dog treats don’t simply have to consist of beef, chicken or gravy. We like a variation in our diets and would love to try these dishes if this was a human dish – so don’t deprive your dog of the dining experience!

The biscuits are shaped into love hearts which are rustic in appearance, clearly time and effort has gone into this product. These are about four cm and the box was contained a full layer. It was obvious the dogs were intrigued as they all gathered and offered me a paw, a smelly old teddy and a chewed up bone in exchange. It did make me chuckle.

The product contains Chicken, Parsnips, Carrot, Sweet Potato and a Milky Biscuit Mixture giving a light texture packed full of flavour. Carrots are great for preventing Vitamin A deficiency. This helps to prevent a dull dry coat and skin irritations. I was amazed at how human grade the ingredients were and emailed the owner to ask if there was anything dry added. Nope. I was reassured, and a big paws up to this company from sourcing local ingredients. All items are freshly bought, cooked, diced and cooked with.

All three dogs loved these, especially Derby. They were crunchy in texture and a great treat for him, they were cooked to perfection for him as weren’t too soft nor hard. Nellie, well I had a variety of tricks off little legs for these little bites of delights – even a rollover! Tootsie also ate her fair share, and will know that she has developed a hoarding habit! I have found everything ranging from pears to pinched socks in her bed! The other night I was walking past and peaked in to see Tootsie and Derby having a midnight feast – a day after they last were given them! They clearly had hoarded them for a special occasion!

My Review (Da Impawtant One!)

Antler Bakes
The Antler Bakes came in a pawjus jute pouch, which mum says is great for storage, walkies and even a gift. (Hear that pals! My woofday is 31st October - put dat on your calender, bold, double underlined and circled! BOL) The bag looks super professional, and mums been showing it off to all her doggy pals. The bag was clearly labelled with company info and a tag explaining the ingredients and such like - I'll let humum go into that detail in her human review section.

Pals, the bag comes with a tie, for freshness (and so we don't help ourselves I think). Once humum opened the jute bag inside was a clear sealed packet generously full of different shapes of noms! We were very impressed, sometimes when you have a bag, it's only half full. Not here, nuh-uh! Full to the brim. *licks lips* The only problem with this was I then had to share them with Derby and Tootsie *grumbles*.

My bag was the 'Original' - this may have been the case to those at Antler but to me it should be called 'SuperSpecial'... they were marvelous! I had never tried these before, and I am quite upset at all I have been missing out on :( The pack states ' The Best A Dog Can Get' - take the hint humans, us pooches deserve the best!

The scent was mouth-watering, and yes you guessed it - Derby drooled. It reminded us of the smell of freshly made sage stuffing, delicious! Mum tells me they contain lots of yummy ingredients which she will discuss in detail in her human section. These include Organic Rye Flour, Oats, Ground Deer Antler, Garlic, Rosemary, Parsley and egg. I couldn't believe it too, real ground deer antler! Mmm.

We all tasted the treats one by one -  I tried the love heart ones, because I'm lovely! And they were gorgeous, I even did tricks for them which says something! They were great and crunchy and had a great texture to them, which I think is off the Organic Rye Flour and the Ground Deer Antler. Make sure that you have a dish of water near by pals when ever eating anything.

My Verdict? - Deerlicious ;)

Antler also make their hand baked delights in another two varieties : Kelp and Charcoal. The Kelp bakes include all the goodness of the Original, with added Kelp, which is beneficial for skin irritations and flea control. The Charcoal bakes, yet again contain all the goodness of the Original but have added Charcoal to help alleviate wind and improve digestion. ( I know a few dogs who could use this for wind issues.. and owners too!)

Original Antler Chew

Aslong as I was a puppy I can remember dreaming of these, and now much to mine and humums amazement I could of had one of these as Antler offer a wide range of Deer Antler chews for all ages and sizes! *sighs* My mum has lots of making up to do!

Antler Dog chews only use 100% naturally shed deer antler which come from healthy free-ranging deer that live natural lives. No deers are ever harmed, so do not feel guilty at all gobbling on these pawjus treats pal!As you know deer antlers come in all different shapes and sizes and as Deers shed their antlers roughly once a year, this enables all sizes of pooch to enjoy these.  I'll let mum go into the details on where they come from in her part pals, as you know... I'm all about the taste.

The one I was sent was a hard boney material full of nommy dry marrow which keeps me occupied for ages! I can see this treat lasting ages, not because it's not to my taste or anything, but because it is pure quality and natural. It requires some dedicated chewing time, so when the humans are boring you watching the soaps on the TV, this is pawfect for plonking on the mat and entertaining yourselves.

I would like to tell my pals to all get their paws on these tasty engaging antlers, because I'll let you in on a little secret. They're great for cleaning your teeth! That's right pals, so next time you go to the v.e.t.s for your dental check up - do not fear, flash your pearly white gnashers and thank Antler for all the compliments you will receive! They are nature's own toothbrush.

Mum was impressed by the fact this had no smell to it whatever, which doesn't phase me. I have a better nose than mum so I know it must smell nommy, but mum was relieved it didn't smell of tripe! BOL. They are also hypoallergenic meaning those humans don't have to worry about allergies

And I am proud to say, I never had to offer Derby this! *high-paws*  As you know Derby is a little fifteen year old Yorkshire Terrier and is very lazy... but Mum thinks he is a cutie. Him and Tootsie (My adoptive dog parents) would be better suited to a Easy Chew which is available on their website, these are cut length ways exposing the tasty marrow and means they can get it easier. This means they can still get their vitamins and minerals safely.

If any of you have fussy humans who complain about mess, this is pawfect for you. There is virtually no mess with these chews. So make sure you add these to your shopping trolley!

Antler Dog Chews
'Our chews are hand finished using year fresh, 100% naturally shed deer antler' - Antler
Antlers make fantastic dog chews because they are made of a hard boney material, naturally containing fibre and minerals like calcium, phosphorous and iron. They are therefore suitable for dogs with sensitive digestion, allergies nd some medical conditions such as pancreatitis and those on a far controlled diet. Tasty morsels of dry marrow are exposed as the antler is worn down by the action of dog's teeth and saliva. These antler chews are totally natural, unprocessed product, with no additives or preservatives.

Did you know a  happy dog is a chewing dog?..
Chewing Antlers releases positive chemicals from the brain helping to keep your dog happy, busy and expending energy. Teeth are cleaned and gums stay healthy whilst your dog is happily absorbed with it's favourite Antler chew.

Where do Antler Dog Chews get their Antlers from?
Deer grow a new pair of antlers each year from the age of one. The antlers begin as layers of cartilage and slowly mineralise into bone. Antlers grow very quickly and faster than any other type of bone, growing up to 2.5cm per day in the summer! Deer drop their antler naturally each Spring, ready for a new pair to start growing.  This means Antler Dog Chews are made from the Antlers that are naturally shed each year, and come from healthy free-ranging deer that live natural lives.
